Cubytes / AssaultCube Devlog - REVIVAL

Post by Battlefrog » February 3rd, 2017, 11:30 pm

Copying an idea from TigSource I'll post my progress on AssaultCube.

If you don't know what it is, there's a screenshot of the latest version below.

Here's the Github: https://github.com/Battlefrog/AssaultCube

Be posting progress shortly!

Versions!

(Open up the spoiler tag, so people won't have to scroll down! HORRAY! )
Spoiler:
1.0

x64 - 2.0 - BEWARE, BAD! 2.5 IS MUCH BETTER!

x64 - x86 - 2.5

x64 - x86 - If for some odd reason, you can't seem to download these files, download the version pack which is one of the attachments to the forum post. It's a bigger download, as I can't have more than three attachments, but it has all of the versions of the game. Go nuts.

Made some progress here. Here's a little changelog, if any of you are interested.

Changelog:

- Added the ability to reset the players x and y position (Respawning)
- Added the ability to press 'ESC' to quit
- Added a 'counter' for how many times you've respawned, might turn that into a score kind of thing
- 'Fixed' the collision of boxes / walls, however it doesn't account collision with boxes that have negative width and height
- Started work on sounds

Long time no see guys. Been working on school, having a life, and being lazy.

Changelog:
  • Added points and a level end (Only displaying, not doing anything)
  • Fixed wall collision on negative widths and heights (HINT: I really didn't. Just not using negative widths and heights)
  • Edited the level a little bit, although it's not perfect.
  • Behind the scenes stuff (BORING)
Next time I'll have a publicly available version which I'll feel happy about sharing. It'll include working points, sounds, and an end to the level.

Thanks Chili. :D

Long time no see. Sorry about that, been lazy. And life.

Changelogs:
  • Added Sounds, which are bumping into walls, winning the level, and also one for collecting a point
  • Added DeltaTime, AKA Frame-rate Independence :D
I'd like to add a list of things I want done with the game in the future.
  • Level End
  • Titlescreen
  • Release the alpha to you guys
  • Change the name (There's already a game called AssaultCube)
  • Add moving obstacles
  • Add High Score system
  • Add a main menu
Oh, and here's a video of a sound glitch :P

Some things I noticed during playing...

Moving to the left goes faster than to the right.
Moving up goes faster than moving down.
(I don't know if these are intentional)
I can't seem to get the yellow square to get points to continue (even though the green is colliding with it)
Noise seems to work fine!
I downloaded the first file you see when clicking on the link, by the way.

And... I got the sound glitch...
I completely freaked out, holy crap that's scary.

Nonetheless, awesome game!
