Planet Chili Forum == No Spam ?¿?

Post by Natox » January 22nd, 2012, 5:57 pm

Hey chili, have a question for you that has nothing to do with C++.
I noticed that ever since I joined your forum, there is no spam what-so-ever...
Everytime I create a forum myself, it gets filled with spammers!
I use settings:
- Active account by user
- Enable spambot countermeasures for registrations
- GD image registration feature
It does not help though... spammers still register (might be human-registrations) and spam the shit out of my forums. I did work on a *@mailaddress.extention banlist a couple of times, but they just keep coming up with new email addresses!

So what is your secret mate?

I believe the technical term is "security through minority". Basically, not enough people give a damn to make it a worthwhile target.

Actually, I was hit once before you registed, even with an image CAPTCHA in place. Since switching to a Q&A CAPTCHA plugin, I've had no problems though.

Personally, I believe spamming should be a capital offence.
