Forum Upgrade

Post by chili » August 6th, 2018, 11:40 pm

A little quality of life upgrade: since Hostgator finally caved in and is providing Let's Encrypt certs (TY Google Chrome <3), it seems the forum generated a certificate automatically and https now works, green lock and everything.

I changed some settings in the board admin panel, and more importantly, added some mod_rewrite voodoo via .htaccess. The upshot is that now the forum will be using https for all the things, and all non-https links will be redirected to https://forum.planetchili.net

I cannot login using Firefox anymore. I click "login", the site claims "successful login" and then redirects me back to login page. I decided to try Chrome which worked fine, and which is how I am able to write this message.

Hmm seems like some settings to increase cookie security required a cache/cookie clear. I was locked out myself for a while

I set it back just to be sure, might require another reset

I just had to log back in, but didn't have to reset cache/cookies again.
