Re: Spirograph what I did from lesson 10

Hi Mr Matt, I would download and have a look, but had to uninstall visual studio 2010 to do some stuff. Only got QT installed at the moment because I am making some application software and it is a little quicker in QT to do what I want. I will re-install visual studio 2010 and have a look at these ...

Re: Vacation Advice for Paris/Venice/Rome

Hey I didn't know you were Canadian Chilli. I have relatives in Leamington Ontario.
All the best scifi is filmed in Canada, eg Stargate, Dark Matter and Xfiles and everything else too.

Just been watching Jesse Stone which is supposed to be in Boston, but is actually in Canada too.

Re: New Chili Logo

Hi Chilli, Xeon processors are very stable, which is why they use them for servers. Sounds good. I have only got 4 cores on my laptop, but with multithreading it renders as 8 cores. My laptop has 32Gb of ram and an i7 processor. This mostly suits my needs, apart from when I want to render at 8000 pi...

Re: New Chili Logo

Hi Chilli, Logo came out good, but I suggest adding more edges to the chilli to get a smoother curve. If you used a cylinder to make the chilli shape try 32, or 64(for a really smooth curve). Remember chrome is nothing without decent reflection. If you load an HDR map into the environment you will g...

Have the chilli videos been redone?

Hi all, Been messing with irrlicht a lot lately, because even though I love 2D games I also like 3D games. Started a game called Tomopoly, got discouraged and it never got finsihed. I have spent a lot of time building 3D models, but getting them into games has not gone well LOL. I got the graphics i...

Re: I think I'm starting to get the hang of this 3DS Max thi

Hi Chilli, When a light passes through a piece of coloured glass onto white paper you see the colour of the glass shining through onto that white paper. That is what the caustics are doing. However I believe what you are trying to achieve is a transparent material with a glow, so caustics will help ...

Re: I think I'm starting to get the hang of this 3DS Max thi

Hi Chilli, Haven't had much time to work on this, so I just threw this scene together quickly. Now instead of putting a light behind the material I am making the material itself glow. I am using an archetectural glass material with a luminance of 120 with a falloff map so that it is brighter in the ...

Re: I think I'm starting to get the hang of this 3DS Max thi

Hi Chilli, If you show me your setup then I might be able to help. I wouldn't think you would need subsurface scattering to make a 3d logo. If you are trying to make something real it is mostly down to the correct lighting 90% of the time. When you say logo do you mean the Chilli Tomato cup you see ...

Re: I think I'm starting to get the hang of this 3DS Max thi

Hi albinopapa, When I started I found uv mapping hard, but now it is easy. I can do it in 3ds max, but nowadays I tend to use headus uvlayout. It has speeded up my workflow tremendously. Type that into youtube and you will find a ton of tutorials on it. The hardest part with laying out uvs is spheri...
