Vacation Advice for Paris/Venice/Rome
Vacation Advice for Paris/Venice/Rome
I'm leaving in about a day and a half so I'm packing and making the last minute preparations. I haven't done much travelling in my life, only Japan really and that hardly counts because I live here.
Anyone have any good suggestions or tips for travelling in France/Italy. Things to bring or watch out for. I'm open to any advice. Here's your chance to turn the tables and teach ME a thing or two.

I haven't really visited France just crossed the border on foot when I was in Basel. The food in those countries is awesome tho.

Hi Chilli,
I haven't done much travelling. Used to live in Wales LOL, and it is cold there, and I went to Spain once, so I can't be much help.
England is nice and hot at the moment heh heh.

Since you're a fellow Canadian, one word: Vimy.
Along with the obvious, it's a rare opportunity to stand on Canadian soil outside of Canada. The land was given to Canada by the French to honour the sacrifice of its citizens in the defense of France.

Re: Vacation Advice for Paris/Venice/Rome
I'm fluent in French, so here's some common expressions you might want to know (French on the left, a phonetic pronunciation in parenthesis) :
1) Ou sont les toiletts? (oooo son lay twa-let?) = where are the bathrooms?
2) Parlez-vous anglais? (par-lay vooz anglay?) = Do you speak english? (most of them do)
3) Ou est la guichet? (oooo ayyy la gui-shay?) = Where is the ticket window for the train station?
4) Combien ca coute? (com-bien sa coot?) = How much does it cost?
5) J'ai besoin d'aide. (zhaayy booze-wan daid.) = I am in need of help/assistance.
And some more "leisure" like expressions that I'm sure you'll find to be of use:
6) Ou sont les putains? (ooo son lay poo-tan?) = Where are the hookers/sluts?
7) Tu as combien de maladies sexuellement transmissibles? (too ahhh com-bien de mal-ah-dee sexual-men transmiss-ible) = You have how many STD's?
8) Je voudrais un autre verre d'alcool. (zhe-voo-dray un oh-truh vair d-al-cool.) = I need another pitcher of alcohol.
9) J'aime regarder les films pornographique d'anime. (zheemm regard-ayy laayyy film pornograph-eek d-ann-ee-may) = I like to watch anime porn.
I hope this helps you chili. Bon voyage!

Well, you were about 3.5 years too late, but I appreciate the sentiment none the less
Venice was pretty cool. Italian people are cool. Parisians however, can suck my big Canadian dick.

Hey I didn't know you were Canadian Chilli. I have relatives in Leamington Ontario.
All the best scifi is filmed in Canada, eg Stargate, Dark Matter and Xfiles and everything else too.
Just been watching Jesse Stone which is supposed to be in Boston, but is actually in Canada too.
