Need help

Hello everyone Ottur here. I'm new to programming and I need help with the first tutorial.

I was following along nicely until about 14 min into the video. When I went to click on Chili Directx Framework under the release folder I got an error message and it auto closes (I am supposed to get a black screen. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but in the video Chili said " must have fucked up somehow".

So yeah I'm kinda stuck and its probably some stupid mistake but I don't know whats going on.

Help would be much appreciated

Try downloading the updated framework. You won't be using the updated features for a while, but you can use it and it should work fine

Need more info. What does the error message say? What is your OS and your video card?

The error message just reads "chili directx framework.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." then it says to send an error report to Microsoft.

I have a pc microsoft windows xp 2002 for some reason all my video card data says unavailable.....

I tried LuX's version and now it says 1 up to date instead of 1 succeeded when I try to build something. What does that mean?

Ok something is still messed up now when I try to open the chili directx framework its giving me an error report saying
"assertion failed

program:...
file:c:\documents and settings ect

Expression:!FAILED( result )

for more info on the failure go to Visual C++ documents on asserts

(press retry to debug teh application - JIT must be enabled)"

then it gives me 3 options abort retry and ignore

There should be a line number/file name.
Can't tell where the problem was if you don't post it.
