Bit Blitting
I am up to intermediate lesson 4 and Chili gives an excellent explaination of directx and how the GPU and VRAM works with RAMDAC to flipflop the page buffer and he mentions 'Bit Blitting'! Awesome! A part of my project is to demonstrate sprite blitting, I think I'm getting a better understandi...

Re: VS Express 2013 vs. Code::Blocks
Stick to VS if that's what you have been using so far. No point in learning a new IDE as well as learning the C++ language.
I use VS because I get a free version with my course, but I do love Intellisense!

Re: Dreaming about code
Yeah man I think I was just having one of those days. I feel more hopeful today. I have enjoyed doing Chili's excercises during his tutorials but not tried making my own game with his framework. Because I am making my own framework for my course, it's slow going. I have my Window and D3D initialised...

Re: Dreaming about code
Learn to write programs or die trying. That's what the chili says and that's going to be my mantra from now on. I will win this battle! Hahahaha

Re: Dreaming about code
Thanks Lux, my problem is I've been studying c++ for a couple of years and up to intermediate vid 3 with the Chili and now I have a project to do for a course and I must include: path finding, sprite blitting, procedural generation, memory management, data serialisation I know what I'm supposed to d...

Dreaming about code
I want to write code so bad it's making me sick. I have been dreaming of writing code in my sleep. However, when I look at my VS application my mind goes blank. What variables do I need? What functions must I create to play with these little variables. What classes do I need to encapsulate a...

Hi God
You're doing really well to be so far in the tutorials! I am on Intemediate Lesson 3 (but I have been studying course materials in between Chili vids)

Re: Favorite games
@balldrix 1.3. I've always been a huge fan of DOOM and Quake back in the day, so yeah.. you can imagine how much I like COD and BF. I loved DOOM and Quake back in the day, and I love CS 1.6 & CS- source. I played CS when it was just a crappy mod. My comment about COD and BF is probably due to the f...
